Set up your catalog (do this first)

Tell your store how products are priced, whether you track stock, what the Add Product form asks for, and your default options like Size or Colour.

Catalog & fields is the one-time setup that shapes your whole product workflow. It decides how products are priced, whether stock is tracked, and exactly which boxes the Add Product form shows you. Get it right once and adding products is fast forever.

Quick path

Store dashboard → SettingsCatalog & fields (or search *catalog* in Settings).

Most sellers can leave everything as-is and just start adding products. Open it when you sell something with options (sizes, colours) or want to rename/hide fields.

Describe what you sell (fastest start)

At the top, the Product setup card asks *"In one line, what do you sell?"* — type something like *"Sneakers in different sizes and colours. I track stock for each size."* and SitesPlaced configures the pricing, options and fields for you. (AI setup is available on the Ecommerce plan; you can always set things manually below.)

Pricing & stock

In the Pricing & stock card you choose two things:

  • Pricing model — one price per product, or a different price per option (e.g. a Large costs more than a Small).
  • Inventory modeldon't track stock (always available), track one shared stock count per product, or track stock per option/variant (separate counts for each size or colour).

This is why your product form sometimes shows a single price/stock box and sometimes a grid — it's following the model you pick here. More on stock behaviour in Track inventory & stock.

What you fill in for each product

The What you fill in for each product card lets you rename a field or turn off ones you don't need. Your Add Product form shows exactly these fields — so if you don't sell anything with an *Item code / SKU*, switch it off and it disappears from the form.

Default options (like Size or Colour)

If most of your products share the same options, set them once here — add an option like Size with values *S, M, L*, or Colour with *Red, Blue, Green* (comma-separated). Then on each product you can generate every combination in one tap. Prefer to do it per product? Skip this and add options directly on the product instead.

Extra product details

Need fields beyond the basics — like material, weight or warranty? Add them in the Extra product details card and they'll appear on the Add Product form for every product.

Changing the catalog setup later is fine, but doing it before you add lots of products saves you editing them all afterwards.
